Veronie in Paris | Navigating Classrooms and Metro Mishaps

Ah, Paris! The city of lights, love, and... well, a whole lot of chaos! Let me give you a peek into my-Veronie, daily Parisian escapades.

So, picture this: there are two versions of my day here. One where I'm stuck in class, and the other that's basically a wild roller coaster ride. I try to plan things out, but honestly, I end up rolling with whatever comes my way. It's chaotic, but in the best possible way.

Let's talk about my classes. Three days a week, you'll find me bouncing between French cinema in the afternoon and international marketing in the morning. But guess what? Soon, I'll be swapping those out for fashion & business and photography classes – I can’t wait for the switch-up!

Mornings kick off early for me! I drag myself out of bed, jump in the shower (much to the annoyance of my housemates, who swear I take forever), and then we all head out together, bellies empty and legs moving. There's something entrancing about strolling through Paris in the crisp morning air – until I'm sweating buckets in class, that is. Did I mention there is a lack of air conditioning? Yeah, it's a struggle.

We eventually caved and got ourselves metro passes, but let me tell you, navigating the metro can feel like a battle sometimes. It's survival of the fittest down there!

Class presentations are a constant thing. My partner and I have mastered the art of winging it. For international marketing we'd present our case study by scribbling away on paper while others created their PowerPoint slides, but our work just had a je ne sais quoi. Our professor loved our paper doodles more than anything. We'd often get called up first – maybe she appreciated our creative flair! One time we left a sheet in class by accident and when my French cinema teacher came later she decided to take it cause she liked the design. It was at that moment I knew our work just had the it factor.

Between classes, I've got plenty of time to kill. Sometimes I hit the books, other times I'm off on a quick shopping spree. And of course, I never forget to grab a bite and hang out with friends. If I’m in a rush I stop by a nearby kebab shop- I’m just happy to say salam alaikum at the counter! The food is definitely a plus though.

Weekends are for exploring, and boy, have I been busy! From Normandy to Nice to Switzerland, I've been racking up those travel miles. I have never been anywhere until now luckily my friends were dragging me across Europe! I also went to a theme park with my friends and rode a rollercoaster (it was Spaceship themed) for the first time. Let's just say it left me feeling a little traumatised. Every time the metro train plunges into a tunnel, I have flashbacks to that heart-pounding moment of darkness during the ride. Hey, but I’d do it all over again for the adrenaline.

But nothing hit better than coming back to my little Parisian apartment. It feels like coming home – even if I have to dodge the occasional drunken passerby relieving themselves in the street. Ah, Parisian charm at its finest!

And speaking of home, cooking with my roommates has become a nightly ritual. Kayla's mashed potatoes? To die for. And Nethmi and I? We make a killer team in the kitchen. Shoutout to my mom, too, for guiding me through FaceTime cooking sessions – she's a culinary genius!

Every day in Paris brings something new, something unexpected. And honestly, that's what makes it all worth it. Cheers to chaos, new friends, and unforgettable memories!
